How to Use Templates to Streamline Your Routine Setup

Syncing your trading data shouldn't feel like building a rocket from scratch. Using a "Trades to Sheets" template allows you to bypass manual configuration and jump straight into analyzing your performance.

Follow this guide to copy, connect, and apply a template preset to your sync plan.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have the following ready:

  • An active Interactive Brokers (IBKR) account.
  • A generated Token from your IBKR Account Management portal.
  • A Google account with access to Google Sheets.

Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps to get your automated reporting up and running in minutes.

1. Locate Your Template: Navigate to the Templates section in our web page. Browse the gallery to find the layout that best suits your reporting needs.

2. Copy the Google Sheet: Click the Copy button on your chosen template. A prompt will appear confirming that a copy is being created in your personal Google Sheets account.

3. Rename Your Sheet: Once the sheet opens in a new tab, rename it to something recognizable. This makes it easier to find in the dropdown menu later.

4. Select the Destination Sheet: Go to your Plan Basic Settings. In the "Destination" or "Target Sheet" field, select the Google Sheet you just renamed.

5. Enter Interactive Brokers Query ID: Provide your Interactive Brokers Query ID. Your Flex Query must include the exact same fields and report types required by the template. If the fields don't match, the data won't populate correctly.

6. Verify the Connection: Click Test Connection. This ensures our system can talk to both IBKR and your Google Sheet.

7. Access Operations: Once the connection is verified, the Operations tab will become accessible. Click on it to manage how data is mapped.

8. Apply the Template Preset: Inside the Operations tab, click the Apply Template Preset button. This automates the mapping process for you.

9. Select Your Template: From the matched template gallery, select the specific template you copied in Step 2.

10. Apply Settings: Click Apply Settings. The system will automatically populate the operations list, mapping your IBKR data fields to the specific columns in your Google Sheet.

11. Save and Activate: Review the auto-filled fields. If everything looks correct, click Save. You can now Activate the plan to begin the syncing process immediately.
